KEEPING YOU INFORMED

Updated April 3, 2020

Dear patrons,

From all of us at the Arts Club, we hope you're staying healthy and safe during this time.

Right now, our artists normally would be rehearsing, making costumes, and building sets. Instead, our theatres, rehearsal halls, and workshops are empty. In an effort to slow the spread of the coronavirus, we have closed our three theatre venues, production shops, box offices, and offices at the BMO Theatre Centre. This is a difficult and unprecedented time for all of us, and we appreciate your understanding as we work to determine how to proceed.

It is imperative that we act on the advice of government officials, public health authorities, and medical professionals to address the safety of our patrons, staff, and artists. Of course, the impact of lost performances on the Arts Club, a not-for-profit theatre company, is enormous. These cancellations affect all the artists and staff, both on- and off-stage. We are heartsick about the situation, and thank you for your support and patience as we work to bring the joy of theatre back into your lives.

CONNECT WITH US

Keep connected with the Arts Club and the wider theatre community through our social channels: Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram @theArtsClub.

All Arts Club offices are closed until further notice. Staff working remotely can be reached via email. We are unable to accept incoming phone calls at this time. For assistance, please contact boxoffice@artsclub.com. Email volume is currently high, so we thank you for your patience as we respond to your inquiries.

PRODUCTION UPDATES

RESCHEDULED

Peter Pan Goes Wrong has been rescheduled from this summer to June 2021. This partnership between the Arts Club and the Citadel Theatre will be the North American premiere of the award-winning Mischief Theatre production. As Mischief Theatre is based in the U.K., travel restrictions have made bringing the show to our Granville Island Stage this summer very difficult. If you are a ticketholder, your ticket(s) will be reissued with new show dates as soon as we're back up and running!

RESCHEDULING STILL IN PROGRESS

We are currently in communications to explore the possibility of rescheduling the shows below for this summer or next season:
carried away on the crest of a wave
Every Brilliant Thing
'da Kink in my Hair
Kinky Boots

CANCELLED

A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline, originally programmed for June 2021, unfortunately has been cancelled to accommodate the schedule change to Peter Pan Goes Wrong (above). If you are a ticketholder, you may exchange into any production in the 2020–2021 season once ticket sales resume this summer. To accommodate our patrons during this time, we're offering greater flexibility for ticket exchanges.

STAND BY US

As a not-for-profit arts organization, the Arts Club relies on the people we serve. Your ongoing support of the Arts Club is deeply appreciated, as it goes directly towards the art we produce on our stages, the initiatives we have in place to nurture new artists, and our youth outreach and arts education programs.

If you are in a position to do so, please consider the role theatre plays in your life and support the Arts Club with a gift of any amount today. These donations go directly towards ensuring that we can continue to employ talented artists and bring great art to our stages.

DONATE NOW

YOUR TICKET OPTIONS

If you have tickets to a cancelled performance, we humbly ask that you consider donating the value back to the Arts Club for a tax-deductible receipt. Your support is invaluable as we fight to make it through this crisis. We rely heavily on donors, subscribers, and single-ticket buyers, as their support is crucial to our organization’s existence. By donating the value of your ticket or converting it to a gift certificate, you are providing vital support for the art and the artists that inspire and connect our community. For more information and assistance, please contact boxoffice@artsclub.com.

This is a stressful and trying situation, but it’s also a time for us to rally together and support the art that we love. We would like to thank those of you who have made donations or have already donated the value of your tickets back to the company. We look forward to the moment that we can once again raise the curtain at each of our three venues.

Sincerely,

Peter Cathie White, Executive Director
Ashlie Corcoran, Artistic Director
