The Broadway Musical for Adults
Irreverently witty and outright uproarious, Avenue Q is the musical story of Princeton, a bright-eyed college graduate who arrives in New York City looking for love, a job, and his purpose in life. The only neighbourhood he can afford is the multicultural Avenue Q, where Sesame Street-esque puppets rub shoulders with humans. Part felt, part flesh, Avenue Q is packed with songs that are surprisingly poignant and only occasionally PC.
Approx. 2 hours 15 minutes, including one intermission
WARNING: FULL PUPPET NUDITY AND OTHER VULGARITIES WILL INDUCE LAUGHTER
This is a puppet show. However, this is not your kids’ puppet show as it sneaks a peek at raucous sexual congress, failed childhood stardom, excessive drinking, moving in and out of a slummy neighbourhood, investing, mix-tapes, cute creatures doing bad things, singing boxes, getting laid off, finding your purpose, getting fired, getting re-hired, ruvving someone but wanting to kirr them, exotic dancing, erotic dancing, exotic erotic dancing, homosexuality, racism, pornography, masturbation, interracial marriage, interspecies relationships (monsters and humans), roommates, coming out of the closet, coming out of your apartment, getting ahead in life, going to college, pan-handling, wishing you were back in college, coming out of your shell, and recycling.
Avenue Q has not been authorized or approved by the Jim Henson Company or Sesame Workshop, which have no responsibility for its content…because this ain’t no kids’ show.

"Amazing production, music, singing, acting, etc. It was very positive experience, great energy in the theatre. Performances were outstanding. Really enjoyed it. Recommended it to all our friends"
"Amazing performers with strong voices, who seamlessly integrated themselves with their puppets! The show was so funny at times, and tender and...Definitely a must see. Unless you have problems with the full frontal puppet nudity...Lol"
"You brought Broadway to Vancouver with this professional, entertaining, and hilarious show. We laughed, we cried (from laughing), and left singing…bravo!"
"Loved, loved, loved this production! Very well-written & produced. Kept us laughing and entertained all the way through. In fact, it was so great that I saw it twice!"
"Fan-freakin'-tastic!! Great night out with lots of laughs!! Thanks for a much needed night out!!!"
"WOW, after listening to the CD for years, I got to see the show last night. I was smiling from ear to ear the whole night. So well-done! Everyone was top notch. By far one of the best productions I have seen. Come to Edmonton guys!!!"
"Fantastic Show. Super impressed with the talented performers"
—Patricia, Port Moody
"I can't decide between the internet is for porn, everyone's a little bit racist, or the bad idea bears are the best part. This show is SO FUNNY!! I've told all my friends to watch it...bought tickets for my parents...a great show to watch...18+ only"
"Brilliant cast, super directing, all provided a wonderful afternoon’s entertainment........many thanks"
"It was certainly an evening to remember. My husband and I enjoyed this production immensely. Great music, performance, humour, and a very homey theatre. It was great seeing everybody in the audience (young and not so young) enjoying it so much—lots of laughter (sometimes through tears...). We will definitely recommend it to our children (17 and 19). Everybody who lives in Vancouver should see it.... What a great opportunity"
"FABULOUS!!! 5 STARS!!! LOVED IT!! SMART, FUNNY AND OH SO TALENTED!!"
"Funny and memorable. Our entire family thoroughly enjoyed the show"
"What a riot...social commentary with a laugh out loud result…I found myself eventually watching the puppets and almost forgetting the humans were there..loved, loved, and loved the production!"
"We loved it! Stellar performances, hilarious script and lyrics, perfect pacing. A delight from beginning to end. I'm urging friends to go, as mine did me. Thanks for a great evening"
"My mum and I thoroughly enjoyed Avenue Q. I was a tad reticent about how mum would think of the ribald humour, but thankfully all the scenes were executed tastefully. The vocals were outstanding as were the manipulations of all the various marionettes but each of the actors. They excelled in all realms. Many, many thanks for sharing your talent and hard work. I miss being in the theatre not merely as a spectator, but as a budding thespian eons ago when I studied with Doug Abrams and Alan Lysell; and then with Elizebeth Ball and Malcolm Armstrong from Carousel. I've loved the various productions I've attended over the last 20-25 years and I fully intend to attend more in the new Season"
—Lorelei Christina, Vancouver
"Awesome—consistently entertaining and very, very funny"
—Christine, North Vancouver
"Absolutely hilarious. I did not know that puppets could make you blush!!"
"Arts Club just keeps getting better and better. I'd seen the production at the Centre; both were excellent but yours was more intimate. Keep ‘em coming"
"My friend and I attended the Granville Island Stage production of Avenue Q on August 14th. At first we were unsure what to expect with the muppets (monsters) being incorporated in the play. However, within the first 5 minutes, we were very pleasantly surprised!! The play was extremely funny, the actors incredible. We have already recommended Avenue Q to many of our friends and are planning on seeing the production again! Thank you for a wonderful evening!!"
"I treated my Australian friend to a performance of
Avenue Q and am so happy that I did! We both loved it. She enjoyed the way the "Canadian" audience got right into it and laughed out loud. Apparently Australian audiences are much more reserved, especially when subjects of a sexual nature are made public. The actors blended into their puppets by the third song and were not at all intrusive to their characters. Some really great pipes, particularly on Christmas Eve and the other young woman whose character's name escapes me at the moment. I have been recommending this production to all of my friends!"
"It was hilarious, extremely well-acted, beautifully sung, and produced with quality"
"After spending an entirely enjoyable evening watching
Avenue Q, I knew I had to come back with my sister and mom to share this hilarious play! Not only was I tickled pink by the antics of the puppets but was also impressed by the vocal skill of the actors and puppeteers. Both visits were so wonderful"
"An excellent production of a very well-talented and assembled cast of players. My expectations were thoroughly surpassed and we enjoyed every minute of the show, you don't even realize that it's 2 hours. I've already recommended this production to several friends and co-workers"
"Witty and highly entertaining. Loved the lyrics and music; talented actors/singers; wonderful set. 100% great value"
—Keith, West Vancouver
"I was accompanying my teen daughter, so had no expectations, but I enjoyed this musical thoroughly. My daughter was very excited and had learned the lyrics to just about all the songs by watching Broadway cast videos on YouTube. I must admit it was hard not to sing along, if you can fit it into the schedule, a sing along Q would be a hit!"
—Peter, New Westminster
"I have seen Avenue Q in Las Vegas and London's West End. I must say, the Arts Club's production was by far the best out of the three"
"Wow! I was in complete amazement of the multi-tasking talent and flawless voices. It is a must see again!"
"Amazing—I have seen this in New York in 2008 and was excited to see it here in Vancouver. After a while you feel like the puppets are real people because the person and the puppet become one. Music and voices are excellent. We all came out of the theater with wide smiles; we enjoyed every minute of it!!"
"We loved it. Amazing singers. Definitely not muppets for children"
"An amazing and hilarious show! The talent of the actors is incredible! A must-see for anyone who loves a good laugh and songs you can sing along to"
—Amanda, Las Vegas
"Amazing talent! I laughed so much to see real social problems sprinkled with such humour. No wonder Avenue Q has been held over so many times. I suggest to check it out, unless you are easily offended with a bit of nudity from the muppets. There are some great messages throughout the production, that as a society we can all be reminded of"
—Debby, White Rock
"Terrific performance all round. The actors showed real professionalism and passion which translated to a terrific show. Would recommend it to anybody with a sense of humour"
—Henry, Toowoomba, Queensland
"Very well staged, original, and well-presented!"
"Laughter and hilarity are the very best medicines...and the topics of the "AVENUE Q" performances had us in stitches along with everyone else in the theatre! My mother would have loved it!! The cast was wonderful, the sets terrific, the laughter so refreshing, and my husband and I enjoyed every minute of the show…. I told my adult daughter this morning that this is a "must-see" for her and her friends, and I will rave about it to all of mine as well! WELL DONE ARTS CLUB!"
"Theatre is a much more pleasant experience than the Broadway theaters we have attended in NYC. Outstanding production in all aspects. Met all expectations"
"This production was absolutely amazing. If you compare it to the CD of the 2003 Broadway recording, you'll know that actors in this company have way more accuracy in pitch and tempo. The best line was when Rod finds out that what Nicky said to him was only a dream. Andrew MacDonald-Smith did a great job by pausing for a while between "Yes it was a nice" and "dream," which contained far more emotion than the rendition by other actors. Another thing I want to mention is that the staff was kind enough to let me into the backstage. And luckily I got the signature of Andrew and took photos with him. What a day to remember. This is the best memory of my short stay in Vancouver! Thank you Arts Club!"
—Yuhuan, Chongqing, China
"This was my first time at the Arts Club. My experience was excellent. The production Avenue Q was awesome. The acoustics, comfort, the facility, the location were very good. I live in Vernon but I will be back. All in all it was a very enjoyable situation"
"This production was wonderfully performed and offered some great laughs, serious thoughts for reflection and opportunity to feel a connection with all beings in the struggles and joys of life. Enjoyed this so very much"
—Jamie, Campbell River
"Avenue Q was an absolute delight. The skill and talent of the puppeteers and actors were of high quality, as were the sound and sets. This was a fun, entertaining, and clever production"
"I had heard about Avenue Q on Broadway and really wanted to see it. We got tickets as part of my birthday celebration and we both had a wonderful time. So much fun, talent, provocation, and social commentary all wrapped up in an exciting presentation. Thank you Arts Club and everyone involved in the Avenue Q production. It was a wonderful way to celebrate"
"Entertaining from start to finish! The cast was great! If you haven't seen Avenue Q, I would highly recommend seeing this production"
"I really enjoyed the play. The enthusiasm of the actors and the way they got the puppets to work was wonderful. I bet the actors had a delightful time in rehearsals. Also the music during the play was very enjoyable"
"Extraordinary, genius, surprising! So funny, I almost laughed my head off"
"Great production! Lots of fun and laughs"
"I saw this is New York last month; enjoyed it so much that I had to see your show. Yours was as good, if not better. Would go again if time allowed"
—Vivien, North Van
"I have no hesitation in giving this wonderful production a rave review. It was totally entertaining and satisfying. The musical itself is very well-written and provokes thoughtful reconsideration of one's points of view through humour and delightful tunes. The cast were uniformly superb in their roles: clear, strong voices; fine acting; precise, refined movement throughout the show. What a treat on a gorgeous summer evening. Thank you, Arts Club!"
"I did not have high expectations, as puppets are not my thing. I was pleasantly surprised. It was a terrific production. The acting was excellent and their voices were outstanding. I highly recommend it"
—Eleanor, Tucson, AZ
"Fabulous! Really enjoyed it. One of the best of the season! Thank you"
"So much talent!!! The show was hilarious. Great comedy and wonderful singing voices. Thoroughly enjoyed"
"Thanks for bringing one of my fave musicals to Vancouver. Saw this in London in '07 and was very pleased to see such a strong production here in Vancouver!"
"This production was absolutely fantastic! Every single aspect worked perfectly together from the actors to the set to the choreography. I've never seen an audience so engaged in a show nor heard such uproarious laughter throughout a performance. I came out of the show feeling wonderful—although my cheeks hurt from smiling so much"
"Fantastic, so enjoyable. The puppets were hilarious. The message poignant and the singing was a joy to hear. Kudos to all the cast including the musicians in the background. A very fine performance. Will be recommending it to my friends"
"Absolutely the funniest thing we ever saw! The four of us just roared the whole time! Our sides were actually sore from laughing so hard!"
"Wonderful show, very entertaining. An amazing combination of actors and puppets that works incredibly well"
"My husband and I absolutely loved Avenue Q. Very well-written, moved along quickly, touched on very real situations, and played out by the best talent ever!! Thank you for an evening of laughter and perspective!"
"What a fabulous show. I laughed until tears rolled down my cheeks! What a talented group of actors!"
"Avenue Q was without a doubt one of the best productions we have seen in the ten years we have subscribed to Arts Club. Timing was perfect, humour amazing, and singing outstanding! Wonderful to see such incredible Canadian actors"
"Avenue Q was fantastic—so clear and funny. The cast is outstanding. The whole show was flawless, entertaining, and a great night out. I'd definitely recommend it friends. I think this is a must-see"
"This is a must-see production!! I laughed so hard that I cried! At first I thought it would be difficult to get past the "humans" and concentrate on the puppets but it took a matter of minutes for the humans to fade into the background and the puppets to take centre stage. All of the actors are extremely talented. One of the best Arts Club productions I have had the pleasure of attending"
"Fantastic show, the best part of the humour was the truth in it. Great songs, amazing performance! If you don't see it, you’re missing out!"
"We saw Avenue Q at a matinee this past weekend, as part of our second wedding anniversary celebration, and we were thoroughly entertained! We laughed (a lot) and even shed a few tears.... Hats off to the amazingly talented cast and the top-notch direction and choreography of Peter Jorgensen! You do not want to miss this show!"
—Luke, New Westminster
"Seven of us attended and really enjoyed the show. The time went so fast, it was over too soon"
"Friends know me as one who loves adjectives but this production makes me wish I had more in my repertoire. So clever, creative, high energy, and totally entertaining. Superb talent brought marvelous voices to sing some delightfully naughty songs. The full-puppet nudity scene was hilarious! The four piece musical ensemble was perfect; so much better than a full-size band or orchestra that often play over the singers/actors. I had a smile on my face the whole time with lots of chuckles and even more laugh-out-loud moments. Friend and I left with happy hearts and bodies full of endorphins-the kind one gets from laughing so much. Even better: we were still savouring that joyful experience days later"
"Raunchy puppets, what a concept. Tons of fun, wonderful voices, singing and acting. I am telling everyone who will listen to what a great time we had"
"A joyous comedic romp: the play of a generation gets a Canadian update for its Vancouver run. Good times guaranteed"
"What a delightful production! We are very familiar with
Avenue Q having listened to the score hundreds of times 'The internet is for porn'!! But we never realized that seeing it live on stage would be such a treat! The young, energetic cast put in such amazing performances that it's hard to single anyone out…but that's never stopped me before! Andrew MacDonald-Smith is simply amazing! His sinuous fluidity was simply a sight to behold. When this young man moved—regardless of which puppet character he was portraying—the energy and emotion of the character just seemed to exude from every pore! This is a tight, bright production of an extremely well-written musical and I highly recommend it to any fan of the genre! Bravo to all involved!!"
"This is a must-see production for anyone who is young at heart and on a continuous journey of searching for purpose in life. Kudos to the entire cast of talented, dedicated individuals, and of course the behind-the-scene production team. BRAVO!"
"Avenue Q was a laugh out loud delight! Simple yet effective sets, brilliant casting, and talented musicians blended with a stellar script to deliver mega laughs a minute punch lines! We are blessed to enjoy a top notch off Broadway show delivered so expertly once again by the Arts Club—kudos to all!"
"This is a FANTASTIC production. Peter Jorgensen and the cast did a brilliant job. I laughed and laughed! I saw it a few years ago in NYC but this production is much better! Thanks to all involved for a FANTASTIC night of entertainment. So good that I'm going again on August 22nd with my son :)"
—Sheila, Port Moody
"What a hoot! I knew little about this play when I purchased tickets, but went on the recommendation of a friend who had seen it in New York. I thought the set was great and was very impressed with the performers—the humans (wonderful voices, very expressive) and the puppets (also!). So glad I saw it at the Arts Club. I shall definitely recommend it to friends. It was also great to see such a great audience turnout for this production. Well done!"
"Great fun, wonderful singing . We loved it"
—Gale, New Westminster
"The show was hilarious. I've been telling all my friends about it. Just mentioning the song titles gets a good round of laughter going"
"We thoroughly enjoyed Avenue Q. The actors are amazing. So very talented. The show was very funny, but I would return to see ANYTHING these actors do. Can't be beat"
"Deeper and more interesting than it appears...in fact, very well-done on many levels. Excellent messages delivered in an innocent and cute way (not to offend) and by talented actors with amazing voices. Technically perfect and ingenious!"
—Mary, White Rock
"What a wonderful production! Such talented performers, great band, creative stage/set and fun costumes. Our group of 16 loved it! The puppets took on a life of their own for sure. Especially in bed! That scene alone is worth going again!!!"
"Hugely imaginative and creative...and highly entertaining. I loved it!!!!"
—Juliet, North Vancouver
"Avenue Q was a delight: quick-paced, witty, and irreverent. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The actors were so talented and beautifully cast. Of note was a vibrant performance by Kazumi Evans who stepped in on short notice and really shone in her role as Christmas Eve. Highly recommended! (but do read the provisos about content)"
"My second time seeing this hysterically funny show and I'm proud to say this production was even better than the New York show I saw on Broadway!! Yay!! Canada!! Well done, Arts Club!!!"
—Susan, West Vancouver
"Last night five of us came to see Avenue Q. We ranged in age from 21 to 83. We laughed so hard we cried—along with all the other audience members around us. I have seen
Avenue Q before when it was on tour. I think this production in this quaint/intimate theatre was far more entertaining. Thank you to the young actress who so bravely filled in for Christmas Eve. It was courageous stepping out into the spot light—the rest of the talented cast so effortlessly guided you through the blocking—it was clear we were watching a very seasoned and professional cast and crew. We cheered all of you on all night long. Bravo!"
"Thoroughly enjoyed Avenue Q. Lots of laughs and very entertaining. The connection between the puppets and puppeteers was magical. All the other actors (including the brand new Christmas Eve- well done) were just as funny. The songs, the set, and the band also contributed to making this a great production. Thanks for a fun evening. :)"
"A highly entertaining production which touches on many important social subjects while keeping the audience in stitches. The very talented cast does a fantastic job with the puppets and the vocal ability is astounding. I'd see it again!"
—Paul, Port Coquitlam
"Don't miss this production! The music is terrific, the artistry remarkable. You'll enjoy the irreverent, hilarious, laugh-out-loud moments…but be careful, you might just learn a thing or two while you're laughing. The actors are so talented. I liked it so much I'm going to see it again!"
"I saw Avenue Q for the first time two weeks ago and promptly bought tickets to see it again. The puppetry is amazing and the actors embody the characters which is impressive considering how often they change puppets. Although the songs are hilariously inappropriate, the singing is on par with the best musicals I've seen on Broadway. This show is fantastic!"
"Avenue Q is a brilliant production, with a truly talented cast! My favorite thing about it was the mismatch between what my eyes were seeing (a childish musical with puppets) and what my ears were hearing (heaps of fun adult content).
I'd recommend it only to people who are willing to have a politically-incorrect inappropriate laugh at themselves!"
"Hilarious, irreverent, adult, inappropriate.... Loved it! The entire experience (the cozy venue with great seats, glass of wine with a harbour view, and rollicking stage show) made for an amazing evening. We will definitely be back for more!"
"Great cast, great show, fabulous night. Production worthy of the West End or Broadway (we just returned from a theatre trip to London, so we can compare!) and Kazumi was a standout considering she just stepped into the role!"
"My husband and I enjoyed Avenue Q so much. We have not laughed so much as we did yesterday. It was a wonderful evening. Thank you. There is not one show that we have seen at the Arts Club that we did not enjoy. Thank you"
"What a great show. Very entertaining and quite different from anything I had seen before. Obviously a very talented team put this show together!"
"I brought my daughter, her new husband, my nephew, and his girlfriend from Ontario, and my best friend also from Ontario as part of our after wedding adventures together—WE ALL LOVED IT!!!!!"
"An excellent performance which my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed. I recommended it to everyone in the office. We had a pair of great seats which cost about 3/4rs of one Canucks seat and for 2+ hours we were captivated. Excellent value for your entertainment budget"
"After the show I posted the following haiku review to my Facebook account:
Muppets having sex
It was the damndest thing that
I have ever seen"
"I sat through the whole show with a big smile on my face that frequently turned into genuine laughter. What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon!"
"Went to see Avenue Q after Canada Day. Topnotch production. Acting was very good, and the singing was spot-on. It's one of my favorite musicals, and my wife and I really enjoyed the performance"
–Brian, San Francisco, CA

"My husband and I attended Avenue Q last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. Laughed throughout the entire show and was very impressed with the talent and with how clever so many parts of the play were. Seeing such a professional play in Vancouver will definitely encourage us to attend more"
–Serena, North Vancouver
"Hilariously funny! The amazing cast and crew put on an epic show. This show is going to make you laugh out loud and likely pee your pants! So make sure you bring a change of underwear"
"Absolutely hilarious and excellent vocals and harmonies! Win win for the audience"
"Avenue Q was a surprising delight. The script and songwriting reflected a sensitive social commentary grounded in today's reality; the singers/puppeteers were excellent, and although I was skeptical to consider a play with puppets, they totally won me over as an enriching and powerful theatrical devise"
"Great evening! A fun adult version of Sesame street....still teaching moral lessons but definitely with a fun, grown up, slightly perverse sense of humour! Actors were amazing and can not imagine any better on Broadway!"
"Fabulous! Renewed my love of musicals. Fantastic acting, great voices, even wisdom in the script! Vancouver has come a long way in live theatre. Bravo!"
"Avenue Q is an outrageous, outlandish, outstanding production. It is performed by a cast that play so tightly amongst themselves that you will be amazed at what you experience. This is definitely no "Puppets for Grown-ups" show. It is a finely crafted piece of work that deserves a long life. I won't tell you any more as it may spoil the surprises but don't miss it. You may arrive with a frown but you are guaranteed that you will leave with a grin"
"Had to drag my husband to the show but was he glad I did! We loved Avenue Q as it is original, hilarious, and has a great cast. If you want a fun evening out we recommend Avenue Q"
"Loved, loved, loved this production...told all my friends to go see it...might even see it again..."
"What an entertaining show! I loved it, the use of different media and the intimate venue location. I would recommend it to others for sure"
"Hilarious!! Great music, terrific voices, and wonderful way to wrap up this season! Looking forward to Season 50!!!"
–Judi and Don, Vancouver

"A cleverly written, well-acted, well-choreographed, delightful, modern musical"
"Fast-moving, wonderfully entertaining with humor abounding and best of all, you have chosen to put together a very talented cast...Bravo"
"Excellent performance. Thoroughly enjoyed this show. Good talent and good humour"
–Florence, Port Moody
"We come to Vancouver every summer and always enjoy Arts Club productions. Avenue Q was the best we've seen over the past few years. Congratulations on a first rate evening of theatre!"
–Terrance, Birmingham, AL
"I saw the play in New York and can honestly say that Peter Jorgensen has delivered a production as good as and in some ways better than the Broadway show. Kayla Dunbar and Andrew MacDonald-Smith are sensational! This kind of small cast musical is what the Arts Club does so well. Perfect way to end your season! I'm emailing my friends"
"I attended the evening performance July 4th not really expecting too much. A show with puppets? Let me tell you, if you want to spend two hours with a perpetual grin on your face, this is the show to see. I don't recall having as much fun at a show in years. I highly recommend this show. The musical numbers are hilarious. The cast is great. Andrew MacDonald-Smith in particular. It's fun from beginning to end. Warning! The puppet bedroom scene is graphic and funny as hell. The Trekkie Monster will have you howling with laughter. I did not want the show to end. Loved it! Loved it! Loved it!"
"Brilliant and hilarious. If you like musical satire with superb acting and naughty puppetry, this show's for you"
"I didn't know what to expect in this production but the reviews that I read gave me hope and I was not disappointed. All roles were extremely well played and in particular the role of Christmas Eve was exceptional...a tour de force.
In terms of the script, I found the first half more engaging and the ending a little too neat but that comment is searching for flaws. I took two relatives from the USA and they were delighted with the level of the performances"
"A wickedly entertaining evening; never have puppets ever been so entertaining! Congratulations Arts Club, for another wonderful production!"
"A fantastic show that was wonderfully put together. Fantastic actors with great singing voices together with an ingenious set and interesting multimedia integration makes this a must-see show for the irreverent crowd"
"This is the second time I have seen Avenue Q, and enjoyed it as if I had never seen it before. Laughed throughout the entire show. The venue was perfect for the production, intimate size and every seat had a great view. The backdrop was great, and nothing could have been done better. To see the level of enjoyment, everyone in the audience stood up to applaud the talented actors, and their voices and dancing were perfect. At times you didn't even see them, as the Muppets seem to have a life of their own. I will spread the word and hope every show is a sellout. GREAT PRODUCTION"
–Marcy, North Vancouver
"Loved this show! It was brilliantly written and produced, it was creative and original, raucous and irreverent and totally hilarious. The actors were outstanding in being able to represent the puppet's actions, moods and tone of voice. I had no prior information about the show and would highly recommend it–bravo!"
"What a lovely way to end the season. Full of laughter, wonderful singing, and ideas to think twice about. Loved Avenue Q, loved this season and therefore, can't wait for next time"
"I loved this play. Hilarious, clever, energetic. The performances were amazing–in fact, flawless. And the more I think about it, the more I appreciate some of the subtle messages it contains. Well-worth seeing, and in fact, I am plotting when I can see it again"
–Brenda, Port Moody
"Great show. Smiled and laughed all the way through"
"This is the 3rd time I have seen this fun musical. The first was in New York and he 2nd here in Vancouver a few years go... so I was not sure how I would react to a smaller stage... however I loved it and was very impressive. It was intimate and fun and the cast were 100% on performance. The music was well handled. Really enjoyable and rich evening of culture...Great entertainment...with lots of messages....off to find my purpose now!"
"I didn't know what to expect when I went to the show but I was pleasantly surprised. The production was great. It was funny and the actors did a fabulous job with the puppets and singing. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening. I wouldn't mind seeing a second time. Good show"
"Avenue Q is one of the best Arts Club productions I've ever seen...and I've seen a lot. This is acted, performed, lit, staged, sung, danced, puppeteered and everythinged to perfection. I'm going to see it again and again! The internet is for buying tickets to Ave Q! ....and FOR _ _ _ _! ***EXCELLENT PRODUCTION AND CAST IS SECOND TO NONE!"
"I just saw Avenue Q and loved it. Every line in the play, be it in song or dialogue was so funny or so current that I just didn't want to miss a word. It was one of those shows I just didn't want to see end. Go and see it this summer if you get a chance"
"It was a wonderful play had my wife and I laughing through the whole show, very delightful and gave us a moment of fun and laughter for a couple hours. No need for therapy, just go to Avenue Q"
"That this production is outstanding prove that the Play was almost sold out. Congratulations, it was night to remember. Thank you"
"Great show! The singing & acting abilities of all of the cast were phenomenal. I've never enjoyed puppets so much! I highly recommend this show to anyone with a sense of humour & a belief that perhaps sometimes we carry political correctness just a little too far"
"Very talented cast. Could not decide if the puppetry or the acting was the highlight. BUT then the vocals....very good harmonies mixed with humor. This was a pleasant surprise and I have told many of my friends/family that this is a 'summer must'
"Another fantastic night out! GREAT show and loads of laughs :-) Must admit I was a bit skeptical at first as to the true nature of this production ('FULL PUPPET NUDITY AND OTHER VULGARITIES'), but it was far less crass and crude than I was expecting! Very clever and witty at times, some super fun and catchy tunes, and I was truly blown away by the characterization of the puppets–VERY well-done! I mean, who knew one could identify with a puppet so easily?? Lol. A lovely storyline in all, a reminder that the world is full of wonderful people, some of whom just need a little hand every now and again...(no pun intended!)"
"Fantastic! Avenue Q is hilarious and thoroughly enjoyable–a definite "must-see"! I am continually amazed at the excellent quality of the productions at the Arts Club. Kudos to the very talented cast and crew"
"I came from Victoria to see this show last Tuesday night. It was funny, cute, sometimes sad, but so well-done, well-sung especially by the two female leads, so good. I've ordered myself a copy of the CD! Bravo to the company!"
"Fabulous! A must-see for all adults! The cast is AMAZING! Wonderful voices. We should be proud of our very talented performers. A perfect 'Summer Fare'"
"The best I've seen for a long time! I couldn't stop laughing!"
"Amazing and hysterical! Been wanting to watch this production for a long time and it did not disappoint. Pretty much went way beyond what I was expecting to find. So if you're into puppets and adult jokes then this is a show for you"
"I didn't know what to expect! I was not disappointed! It was great music, well done and wonderful entertainment. I have recommended it to a couple of friends"
"Amazing show! I laughed, I cried (from laughing), it was better than Cats. I always thought I would be uncomfortable watching live puppet sex, but it wasn't so bad. Marshall's sets were perfect (as they always are), it was superbly cast, and so well it didn't seem staged (as Peter always does). Just a fantastic night out! If you love inappropriate humour and Sesame Street, you NEED to see Avenue Q!"
"Wonderful!! A perfect production to see on a perfect summer afternoon. The technical aspects of the show were excellent. The actors were incredibly skillful with their puppets and as a result were extensions of each other. Well done Arts Club!!"
"We saw this production at the Q.E. when it was first here and honestly, we much preferred the Arts Club performance. Perhaps it was merely the intimate venue but everything about this production was first rate. No need to travel to New York. It's wonderful to see that we have so many talented people in this city. Loved it!"
–Neil and Linda, Vancouver
"THIS is the best play I have attended in the 4 years I have been a member of the Arts Club! We laughed from the beginning to the end!!!"
–Murray, North Vancouver
"Fantastic! Everything about this production was well done. The singing was amazing. I really enjoyed it"
–Cathy, New Westminster
"A refreshing ride through life’s lessons. Brilliantly staged and presented mix of puppetry and live actors play off each other. Definitely a show to see"
"This was my second time to see Avenue Q. The first time was a couple of years ago. Loved it just as much this time, perhaps even more, but introduced someone new to the presentation. I liked the smaller theatre on the Granville Island stage compared to "The Centre" downtown from my previous viewing. The production was top notch from the stage, to the actors, the musicians and the support staff. Loved it all. Thank you for putting such a great show!!"
"I have to be honest. I have wanted to see Avenue Q for a few years now, so the fact that I knew it would be performed had a huge influence on buying seasons tickets. When your expectations are high (and you've been waiting so long to see something) it can be all too easy to feel let down. This was not the case. The set was perfect, the singing amazing, and even the voices were spot on. I brought my 20 year-old daughter with me. She knew all the songs, and much of the dialogue, by heart. She was also in awe of the level of performance. This is not a show for kids. It's meant to be a little shocking, but in a funny way, and it delivers. I enjoyed myself enough that I'm considering going back to see it again. What a way to cap off a season!"
"What a great show!!! The main characters are outstanding! Great production! Lots of fun!!!"
"Went to see Avenue Q on opening night. I had seen it before in Vancouver, but it was like a 'new' play again. One of the best shows I've ever seen–we’re lucky it came back to Vancouver. You can see why it won all those Tony awards. It's a must see–very talented cast and innovative idea working with 'puppets'"
"Excellent! Never heard so much laughter in one place before. Definitely an adult production but a perfect summer time event. Well done Arts Club!!"
"My sister and I loved this production. It had a superb cast that kept us laughing through the whole play. Excellent acting, writing, music and set design! We highly recommend to adults that need a sojourn from the hustle/bustle of everyday life"
"It was fabulous. Wonderful singing and acting. One of your best!"
–Jack and Doreen, Vancouver
"Saw this show in NYC years ago and always had fond memories; the Arts Club's version was even better than Broadway! Quite enjoyed it, very impressed with the stupendous cast and wonderful set"
"Hands-down, jaw-dropping hilarity! Arts Club’s 2013 production of Avenue Q is a terrific night out. A fearless and funny story with terrific musical numbers, impressive puppeteering and top-class vocal talents make for an unforgettable live theatre experience for the unreserved audience. Highly recommended adult entertainment!!! A must do"
"Avenue Q was one of the best productions I've seen. I laughed so hard I couldn't breathe and was blown away by the actors, especially the ones who did more than one role. I really wish there was a soundtrack available for purchase. The next road trip to see my mom in Oliver would be a lot more fun if I had the soundtrack to sing along to"
"Avenue Q was the best production I've attended in quite a while. The humor, puppetry, music, and acting all added to the fun value of the play. Well-done!!!"
–Judith, North Vancouver
"Fantastic–an absolute 'must see' production. I've been waiting years to see it, after hearing about it from friends–finally had the chance and was not disappointed!! Best laughs I've had in a while–don't miss it!!"
"I have to say, it was one of the best shows I have seen. Definitely in the top 10 musicals of all time I have seen...Too much laughter....Simply awesome show, would love to see it again. Thanks for putting on such a great show…Great job guys/girls"
"Sesame Street goes rogue. Funny. Puppets making serious nooky. Fun. Taking on important issues of homophobia, gay rights, sexuality unemployment among college grads, poverty, etc, etc. well-done. Fun evening of theater"
"Avenue Q was by far one of the best productions we have seen in a long time! From the time the show started through to the final scene, we laughed continuously! The actors/pupeteers/musicians were all SUPERB! I have always loved puppetry and music and would give anything to be able to be a part of something as creative and FUN like this theatre production! Keep up the entertaining and AMAZING performances! We will definitely see it again! Take a bow!"
"What a wonderful show! We enjoyed every second of it!"
"Fantastic production with a supremely energetic and gifted cast! The show's songs are tuneful and witty. We had a wonderful time! Wish we lived in the area and could attend more productions"
